Don’t Let Hidden Holiday Toxins Fuel Your Migraine Misery | Exchange Toxins for Joy

Welcome to the season of feel-good candles, festive treats, sparkling drinks, and homes smelling like a perfect holiday postcard. While this seems like a dreamy time of year for most people, let's hold off for a moment and take a clear look at what's going on behind the scenes. In this blog post, we’re unveiling some of the most potent holiday toxins that may be fueling your migraine misery.

Sneaky Holiday Toxins That May Be Fueling Your Migraine Misery

Today, I'm not here to discuss the magic of the holiday season. I'm here to talk about the not-so-sparkling side of it - the toxins that are along for the holiday ride. This can be candles, sugary treats, and holiday cocktails, just to name a few!

The Dark Side of Candlelit Coziness

You know how we all light up candles to induce that cozy holiday ambiance? Those pretty flames are not as innocent as they appear. Most candles emit harmful chemicals, shockingly similar to vehicle exhaust.

And guess what? You're not just polluting the outdoor air. It's happening right inside your cozy living room, infiltrating the very air you and your family breathe.

The culprit? Many of those candles you adore. Don't get swayed by names like "Christmas Spice," "Evergreen Embrace," and "Sparkling Cinnamon." They often contain much more than the pleasant scents the labels promise.

It’s also important to think about this… as the weather cools down, we tend to hibernate indoors and seal off our homes. Unfortunately, this traps the toxins within our homes, providing a gateway for causing inflammation when our body can't expel these toxins swiftly and efficiently.

Drinks and Treats That Aren’t So Merry

Then, there are those drinks and treats that we all love, that are typically full of toxic ingredients, such as man-made chemicals added to make these holiday traditions taste merry and leave us wanting more.

The spike of sugar flooding our body impacts not only our insulin, but our toxic load, raising our inflammation to a high enough state to lower our migraine threshold.

Remember, our bodies can only handle so much toxicity at once.

Modifications For a Healthier Holiday Season

Here's the good news, though. You don't have to stubbornly stick to these somewhat harmful traditions. There are alternatives, and they're not even that hard to incorporate.

Here are a few simple swaps that you can make to have a healthier holiday with less risk of migraine attack:

1. Use Essential Oils: Replace those toxic candles with diffusers and essential oils. They are a great way to fill your house with holiday scents without the added toxins and chemicals.

2. Enjoy Mocktails: Limit your alcohol intake and explore the booming world of mocktails. This is not just sage advice for the majority of us, but is particularly crucial for those living with migraines.

3. Cut Down on Sugary Treats: Sugary holiday treats might be a delight for your taste buds, but they can burden your body with unnecessary toxins. Cutting back on them can significantly help maintain your toxin levels.

It's important to remember that while the holidays are indeed a time for joy and relaxation, our health choices during this time significantly impact our overall well-being.

The holidays are indeed magical and brimming with hope, but remember, it's our daily choices that determine whether this holiday season is 'bah humbug' or jolly and bright.

With a few thoughtful modifications to our holiday traditions, we can create a healthier environment. That's the gift we must give ourselves and our loved ones this holiday season.

Debbie will uncover what is holding them back from migraine freedom so they can live their life pain and symptom free, work productively, spend the time they want with family and friends, and stop missing out on the things they enjoy.

A message from Debbie:
"I was once right where you are now.  100% believing there was NO WAY to end migraines and my only option was to learn how to live with them or find that magic pill that maybe would work for a while.  If anyone told me back then that I could end my pain once and for all, I would have called BS and popped another pill!

Skeptical times 10  was my middle name for sure because when you try it all and everyone tells you they can help you and they don’t.   You stop believing…  you lose HOPE!

I now realize I was approaching my migraines all backward.

I was trying to cover up symptoms versus trying to end my pain."
