The Role of Insulin

Our bodies are these incredible, fascinating machines, aren’t they? At the core of our body’s metabolic processes is insulin, which is produced from our very own pancreas. Its job is to take the food we eat, transform it into glucose, and then pinpoint exactly where that energy needs to go. It's like a meticulous, tireless taskmaster that keeps our bodies functioning at optimal levels.

But here's the twist. Like a rusty hinge, sometimes, our body doesn't respond as it should to insulin, making it much harder to process glucose, which leads to this unwanted guest… insulin resistance.

Insulin resistance can be sneaky. It likes to linger in the background, causing problems behind the scenes, without presenting obvious signs. Some folks could go for years without even knowing it's there waiting.

Can we have a heart-to-heart about insulin and insulin resistance? I know it may sound unrelated to your migraine struggle, but trust me, there's a connection. In this blog post, we’ll unmask the connection between insulin resistance and migraines so you can take charge of your life, not chances.

The Domino Effect of Insulin Resistance

When our bodies are insulin resistant, they require a higher dose of insulin to process glucose. When the body's demand for insulin outpaces the pancreas' ability to produce it, that’s where trouble ensues.

You might wonder, what happens if insulin levels become too low or too high?

On the low end, consistent lack of insulin might indicate type 1 diabetes. On the high side, it signals insulin resistance and possible pre-diabetes, contributing to weight gain and internal inflammation.

Unraveling the Web: Obesity, High Blood Pressure, and Elevated Fat Levels

Did you know that insulin resistance is associated with various health issues, like obesity, high blood pressure, and elevated fat levels?

Over time, our body's response to insulin may continue to falter, prompting our poor pancreatic beta cells to overwork and wear out.

Now, here's the big reveal: there's a worrying connection between chronic migraines and insulin resistance.

According to the National Library of Medicine, a significant prevalence of insulin resistance in people with chronic migraines was observed.

Taking Control: Reducing Migraine Episodes

Knowing about insulin puts you in the driver’s seat, helping reduce those migraine episodes. Today, start by just incorporating more whole foods into your meals. Remember - there's help available. Reach out if you need a coach to walk through this with you - it can make a big difference!

She supports busy moms living with Migraines.

Debbie will uncover what is holding them back from migraine freedom so they can live their life pain and symptom free, work productively, spend the time they want with family and friends, and stop missing out on the things they enjoy.

A message from Debbie:
"I was once right where you are now.  100% believing there was NO WAY to end migraines and my only option was to learn how to live with them or find that magic pill that maybe would work for a while.  If anyone told me back then that I could end my pain once and for all, I would have called BS and popped another pill!

Skeptical times 10  was my middle name for sure because when you try it all and everyone tells you they can help you and they don’t.   You stop believing…  you lose HOPE!

I now realize I was approaching my migraines all backward.

I was trying to cover up symptoms versus trying to end my pain."
