When Health And Finances Collide What Would Dave Do?

We all know that budgeting and managing our finances can be just as much of a headache as our migraines. Dave Ramsey, the financial guru, is famous for his belief that you should never spend money on anything unless you have it saved up. But what about our health and wellbeing? In this blog post, we’ll explore how Dave’s principles can help guide us through the maze of medical expenses, without compromising our health or migraine needs.

Prioritizing Health in Financial Planning

Dave Ramsey understands the importance of putting family first, and that includes your health. Dave says that in moments of medical crisis, focusing on healing should be your priority, not stressing about the bills that loom. You need to allow yourself the space and time to recover and then create a plan to clear those medical expenses.

Budgeting for Health

Ramsey’s financial philosophy also stresses the importance of always budgeting for your health. So, how does this fit into our struggle with migraines? Years of scrimping on essential self-care in an effort to save money may lead to chronic inflammation and other health issues like cancer, heart disease, and autoimmune conditions. These complications will cost you more in the long run. Yes, being debt-free has its perks, but you can't compromise your long-term health for short-term financial gains.

Avoiding Band-Aid Fixes for Migraines

It can be tempting to opt for quick fixes instead of long-term, root cause solutions when you’re struggling with migraines, especially if you’re focusing on your finances. These band aid fixes will only keep you stuck in a loop of financial burden and pain.

So how do we make sure our precious resources are only used for treatments that truly address the root of our migraines?

It's all too easy to fall into the trap of band-aid fixes like medications, botox, nerve surgeries, and chiropractic care, which only offer temporary relief. Unfortunately, this endless cycle of spending can quickly deplete our funds, leaving us frustrated and hesitant to explore other options.

The key is to find a sustainable solution that genuinely targets the root cause of our migraines. This way, we can regain control of our bodies, minds, and finances and make room for other needs and wants in our lives.

Balancing Finances and Wellbeing

Dave Ramsey advocates that 50% of your money goes to needs, 30% to wants, and 20% to savings. Your health should be part of the "needs" category. If you’re struggling to balance your finances and wellbeing, it’s time to get creative!

Start by decluttering your home, selling items you no longer need, and making temporary budget cuts to things that are “wants.”

Ramsey says our “needs” should come before our “wants,” such as our monthly streaming services, vacations, cars for our kids, and that coffee you love each morning from your favorite bistro.

If needed, explore side hustles to bring in extra income. A little creativity goes a long way here. Think about what skills you have that would benefit someone. Are you great with kids, love cutting grass, or can sew like a champ?

These small sacrifices can help you grow your financial safety net without putting your self-care on the back burner.

Prioritizing Your Health and Future

Your health and conquering migraines should always be your priority. Remember, migraines are a warning sign that you are chronically inflamed and will be the least of your worries if you don’t get your inflammation under control.

By focusing on your wellbeing and finding a balance with your finances, you can work toward a future free from both migraines and financial stress.

She supports busy moms living with Migraines.

Debbie will uncover what is holding them back from migraine freedom so they can live their life pain and symptom free, work productively, spend the time they want with family and friends, and stop missing out on the things they enjoy.

A message from Debbie:
"I was once right where you are now.  100% believing there was NO WAY to end migraines and my only option was to learn how to live with them or find that magic pill that maybe would work for a while.  If anyone told me back then that I could end my pain once and for all, I would have called BS and popped another pill!

Skeptical times 10  was my middle name for sure because when you try it all and everyone tells you they can help you and they don’t.   You stop believing…  you lose HOPE!

I now realize I was approaching my migraines all backward.

I was trying to cover up symptoms versus trying to end my pain."
