Are Inflammation Tests Worth It?

It’s Q&A day, and today we’re diving into Nancy’s question about inflammation and testing.

Nancy has been dealing with migraines for over 30 years. She’s tried medications, Botox, and just about every new gadget in hopes of finding relief, but she’s still getting more than 10 migraines a month. Recently, her doctor ran some tests to check for inflammation. They all came back clear.

Now she’s wondering: If there’s no inflammation showing up… is that even part of the problem?

This blog post breaks it down!

The truth about inflammation tests

These tests can be helpful, but they’re far from perfect. In fact, they’re not always reliable when it comes to diagnosing inflammation-related conditions. They can easily miss what’s really going on and often lack the sensitivity to catch low-grade inflammation, the kind that may actually be contributing to symptoms like migraines.

However, your results can vary depending on how you’re doing that day.

Whether you’re fighting off a cold, under extra stress, taking medication or supplements, or simply feeling amazing, all of it can skew the results. If you took the same test five days in a row, you could end up with five very different outcomes.

And even when the test comes back normal, it doesn’t tell you where inflammation might be happening or what’s causing it. So while Nancy’s tests showed no signs of inflammation, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not there. It just means the tests didn’t catch it.

So what can you do?

The Freedom From Migraines Method®, we like to keep it practical. Instead of relying solely on lab results, we focus on what we can actually do to reduce inflammation and support your body in real life.

That starts with six foundational areas inside our Migraine Freedomâ„¢ Protocol: electrolyte symmetry, nutrition integration, circadian responsivity, mindset modulation, movement stabilization, and toxicity mitigation.

Yes, that might sound like a lot.

But here’s the thing: how you live your life every day plays a huge role in driving (or reducing) inflammation. And when you address these areas in a way that’s personalized to you, things start to shift.

A lot of women come to us saying they’ve already made changes — and they have! But often, those changes are based on general advice, not on what actually works for their body, in this season, with their unique needs. Sometimes, those well-intentioned tweaks even make things worse.

We also tend to approach these changes like a checklist: eating better, moving more, getting to bed earlier. But real change comes when these pieces work together, not in isolation. That’s where transformation happens.

What this means for Nancy — and for you

Even though Nancy’s inflammation tests came back normal, her ongoing symptoms and medication history tell us there’s still more to explore.

After checking in with her healthcare team, I’d encourage her to take a closer look at those six key areas and how they can be adjusted to support her specific lifestyle and health picture right now.

When alignment in these areas is achieved, she may begin to experience noticeable shifts like steadier energy, fewer and less intense migraines, improved mental clarity, relief from joint discomfort, reduced allergy symptoms, and even healthier, more radiant skin.

A message from Debbie:
"I was once right where you are now.  100% believing there was NO WAY to end migraines and my only option was to learn how to live with them or find that magic pill that maybe would work for a while.  If anyone told me back then that I could end my pain once and for all, I would have called BS and popped another pill!

Skeptical times 10  was my middle name for sure because when you try it all and everyone tells you they can help you and they don’t.   You stop believing…  you lose HOPE!

I now realize I was approaching my migraines all backward.

I was trying to cover up symptoms versus trying to end my pain."
