Gut Health & Migraines: The Connection You Can’t Ignore

Welcome back for week two of our deep dive into something you might never have connected to your migraines—your gut health.

It’s just you and me today, getting real about something we all deal with but rarely talk about.

If you missed last week’s podcast episode—The Poop-Migraine Connection: Decoding What Your Gut Is Telling You—I highly recommend checking it out first. Trust me, it lays the foundation for everything we’re about to unpack.

Because here’s the truth: a lot of women shrug off their bathroom routines.

Going just a few times a week? We chalk it up to “normal.”

Endless wiping? We ignore it and buy special wipes.

But those signs? They’re not normal—they’re your body whispering, “Hey, we’re not okay.”

And yes, they could be fueling your migraines more than you realize.

Meet the Three Big Culprits

After helping thousands of women using the strategies in The Freedom From Migraines Method®, I’ve found three main culprits that wreak havoc on gut health—and migraines.

1. Toxins

Toxins are everywhere: medications, Botox, mold, plastics, polluted air, chemicals in drinking water. Your liver works hard—handling over 500 functions daily—but when it gets overwhelmed, toxins pile up. This leads to swollen ankles, skin breakouts, low energy, allergies, brain fog, joint pain, and yes…more migraines.

2. Stress

Stress is like an invisible wrecking ball to your gut. Emotional constipation is real—unprocessed stress, overwhelm, or trauma can inflame your digestive system no matter how “healthy” you eat. And for Type A personalities who push through instead of processing emotions, the impact is even greater.

Ask yourself: Where am I feeling most overwhelmed? Where am I holding on too tightly? Those answers matter more than you think.

3. Lifestyle Keys

Finally, the everyday choices that seem small but add up big:

  • Food: Ultra-processed foods, sugar, late-night eating.
  • Movement: Too little (or too much of the wrong kind).
  • Hydration: Not enough water—or the wrong balance of drinks.
  • Sleep: Poor rhythms that throw off digestion.

When these four are off, gut health tanks. When you master them, your gut wins—and migraines start to lose their grip.

From Struggle to Success: Beth’s Story

Beth used to think going to the bathroom a few times a week was normal—even her doctor told her not to worry.

But after working through the Freedom From Migraines Method®, she now eliminates daily… and her migraines? A thing of the past.

Her story is proof: once you address gut health, your whole life can change.

Your Next Step

Here’s your challenge before next week: identify your top 2–3 culprits affecting your gut.

Mine used to be:

  • Medication use
  • Constant worry about my next migraine
  • Lack of sleep

What about you?

👉 Send me an email or DM and tell me your top culprits. I’d love to hear from you and share what’s worked for me

Debbie Waidl is the Owner of In The Balance Health Coaching LLC, and Founder of The Freedom From Migraines Method™   & The Migraine Freedom Protocol™
She supports busy moms living with Migraines.

Debbie will uncover what is holding them back from migraine freedom so they can live their life pain and symptom free, work productively, spend the time they want with family and friends, and stop missing out on the things they enjoy.

A message from Debbie:
"I was once right where you are now.  100% believing there was NO WAY to end migraines and my only option was to learn how to live with them or find that magic pill that maybe would work for a while.  If anyone told me back then that I could end my pain once and for all, I would have called BS and popped another pill!

Skeptical times 10  was my middle name for sure because when you try it all and everyone tells you they can help you and they don’t.   You stop believing…  you lose HOPE!

I now realize I was approaching my migraines all backward.

I was trying to cover up symptoms versus trying to end my pain."
